Turkish food on Bold Street, Liverpool

Bold Street and the Ropewalks hold twelve of Liverpool's thirty-five Turkish restaurants within a few hundred metres: grills, meze rooms, doner counters and breakfast cafés competing side by side on the city's best independent food street.

How to walk it

Start at the Lime Street end of Bold Street and walk down toward the Bombed-Out Church; turn into Seel Street and Slater Street for the Ropewalks. Everything is within ten minutes' walk.

What to eat where

Mixed grill at one of the Bold Street grills; a cold meze plate and rakı at the meze restaurants; breakfast at weekends in the two or three cafés that serve a spread; doner from the Seel Street counters after midnight.

What to know

Competition keeps prices fair and standards up, and the strip is busy every night. Hygiene ratings across Liverpool are a weak point, with only two of eleven rated Turkish restaurants in our directory holding a 5, so check the listing before you choose.
